Stock Pick for the day... 07-01-2008... TESTING...

So finally Reliance Energy has come up as a buy again...
Apart from another big stock Ranbaxy...

Good upmove expected atleast with REL... Chart given is that of REL...
Color coding for the 3 lines is as follows...
Red is 100 day EMA
Green is 10 day EMA
Yellow is Closing value
As for targets I still see around 7350 on the Nifty... However it would be prudent to book profits on the up or on the way down around the 7000-7050 levels... I expect the Nifty futures to stay above this for about 20 trading sessions... Intermittantly it could come down too... But fact is atleast 20 days would be available to book profits... These are my thoughts based on the trend I am currently following...
Have a great trading year 2008...
Regards,
Sam

I saw some of the features of you s/w.
- Download of the bhav copy from a specified date for both cash market and FnO *****
- Computing the (D/E)MA and drawing the chart for the specified period. *****

Just for these two alone I could kiss you. Great job.

I couldn't scroll to the right end of the table - but finally found that one could resize the graph and table to see the data (good idea)
Suggestion:
Can the date column be brought to the first column and the SL NO col dropped?

Now the other features-

- I set the value to 0 and did analysis and got all the buys for each stock. Some dates go back to early 2Ks and even late nineties.

- The search 'current stock' feature in buys list was good - gives one fast access.

Some questions/clarifications:

1. The MAs section and the 'generate buys' section seem independant of each other except that they share the same space for display of data. Am I right?

2. what is the significance of a 21 day Max and 64 day Max price for computing returns?

3. Couldn't you 'generate sells' using the reverse of the buy logic?

4. An observation - the prices have not be adjusted for stock splits / bonus shares etc. Those shares which had a stock split/bonus have skewed data.

What does:
-archive files do? (I didn't try it because I didn't want to screw up the data by mistake)
-reset scrip list do? (OK I figured it out - one can change the scrip list from the Tools button)
-merge scrips do?

What is straight line analysis? I couldn't figure that out.

Are you generating buys on FnO data also? (I dont think so)
Suggestion: as you are downloading FnO data you could incorporate a section for PCR analysis, change in open interest etc.

All said and done it is a great job.

The speed of computing is great.
